Lightshade’s second Honfleur shot…
I find this photo to be another example of Flickr’s habit of underrating good photos. Maybe it isn’t all that colourful and eye-catching, but it is a perfectly good photo from the artistic point of view.
The (very) subtle colours and the still water give a feeling of calm. So calm in fact that you would think it was some sort of infra-red shot. It is a perfect representation of the sleepy village of Honfleur, which, despite it’s small size, is actually one of the most visited cities in France.
I think this photo could have done with a tiny bit more contrast, which could have made it more appealing to Flickr surfers. Also, that pole on the very left pulls the eye away from anything useful, so I would either crop it or edit it.
